What advice would you give to people looking to work in the fashion industry?

I Deserve to Feel Beautiful.

Some days are easier than others. Some days, you may not feel like trying. Sometimes, you may feel like it's easier to just give up, but something that you should always remember is that you're worth it. No matter who you are, you deserve to be alive. You deserve to love your life. You deserve to be happy.
I recently saw this music video by Cimorelli, and I was just so inspired that I had to share it.

The message of this video and song is so beautiful. No matter who you are, you have fears, some of which you may not share with anyone else. Sometimes those fears may take over you and make you feel overwhelmed, but you have to remember that, no matter what, you're someone worth living for.
There will never be anyone that knows every little thing about you, and that's the same for others. You have to remember that you're not defined by just one thing. You're not your skin color, your sexuality, your religion, your intelligence, your past, your mistakes, your weight. You're you, and you deserve everything you've ever wanted, which is why I want to challenge you share the things that you deserve.

to feel beautiful. to be loved. to be happy. to be proud of my accomplishments. to not be ashamed of my past. to not be defined by my past. to not be afraid to question the things I don't understand. to have opinions that differ from yours. to feel passion. to be safe. to learn from my own mistakes. to share my life's journey. honesty. to be alive. to be me.

Smiling Goats + Red Velvet Funnel Cake + Helicopter Rides.

This past weekend, Jon and I went to the state fair here in Louisiana. It was Jon's first time going to the state fair, so I was excited that we would get to experience it together. While I don't like to ride too many rides because I get awful headaches when I'm hung upside down and spun around too fast, I still enjoy going to the fair. The first thing we did was eat because neither of us had eaten breakfast, and we were starved. He enjoyed a chili cheese dog, and I munched down on some ribbon chips. I love me some ribbon chips. I put a bunch of seasoning salt on it to make it more yummy.

Next, we enjoyed a few fair rides and other fun things. We did the bumper cars, rode the ferris wheel, rode in a not scary haunted tunnel ride thing, and visited the petting zoo.

This smiling goat is my new best friend. I literally couldn't stop laughing.

I also got to check something off of my bucket list. We rode in a helicopter! I know it's weird that I don't want to ride rides, but I'm willing to ride in a helicopter, but this was a prime opportunity to check something off my bucket list, and I had to jump at the chance. It was only a 2-minute fly, but it was so neat to see Shreveport and the fair from that point of view. It was Jon's first time flying ever, so it's awesome that his first time flying was in a helicopter.

Before we left the fair, we had to get a funnel cake! We decided on a red velvet one with powdered sugar and cream cheese. It was so delish.

With all the hype surrounding Taylor Swift with the release of her new album, the announcement of the 1989 tour, and all the drama behind her taking her music off of Spotify, surely y'all are tired of hearing about her. No? You're not? Me neither. Y'all know I love my girl, Taylor, so of course, I wanted to spread some more T-Swizzle love.
T. Swift is one of those famous people that every girl wishes was their best friend, and in a way, she kind of is. She's grown up in the media, and she sings about the trials and tribulations of her life, many of which a lot of us can relate to.
I'm one of those people that loves every single one of Tay's songs and can sing almost every word. The only thing I hate about when she puts out a CD is that she can't make a music video for every single one of her songs. I love listening to her albums over and over (#1989onrepeat) and picturing how amazing the song would be coming to life. I just want to learn more about the stories that inspired the songs she wrote, and I know I'm not alone in that.
While I love all of the songs TS has made into singles (obvs), there are a few songs on all of her albums (i.e. all of them) that I wish were made into singles so I could have seen the stories behind the songs come to life in music video form.

My NaNoWriMo Playlist.

Last week, I shared a few songs I like to write to on HauteMess Magazine. It's only ten days into NaNo, and I feel like I'm learning so much about myself and my writing process, what works and what doesn't. My first draft is going in the direction that I want it go, but of course, it isn't perfect (not even close). I'm really pumped to see how it all turns out at the end of the month.
On HauteMess, I wanted to share soft songs that anyone could write to. I do write to the songs that I shared (namely scores from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1), but I also took it a step further for my own novel. Each of my main characters have their own playlists. There are also climactic scenes that have playlists and some character relationships. It's so fun to write to music.
It's not something I thought I would be able to do. I used to have to write with silence, but somehow now writing without music feels weird. These are a few songs from my personal writing playlist for NaNoWriMo:

Five Literary Heroines (Guest Post).

With NaNoWriMo taking over my life, I don't have as much time to dedicate to my blog this month, which is why I'm excited that one of my November sponsors, Llinos from The Lilac Linnet, is sharing a little somethin' somethin' with y'all today. Today Tiffany has asked me to share with you the heroines who have inspired with me during my lifetime as an avid reader. Let's jump right in!

Fanny Price, Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

A surprising choice perhaps, as she is so timid and shy. But, this was the first Jane Austen novel I ever read, and so Fanny opened the doors on Austen's world for me, and I later went on to read all of her novels. I read Mansfield Park when I was 15, and I was incredibly shy myself; so Fanny's journey rang true for me. She gave me confidence to believe that I could be a leading lady too.

Madeleine, Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

Madeleine is so vivid that she jumps off the page. She is feisty, she is fashionable, she is real. She is also a devoted mother, her heart breaking while her daughter moves in with the father who abandoned her as a baby. This trauma is so well written; Madeleine's grief is palpable, and this struggle is something that parents may face. Madeleine is graceful and so very human, and so very strong. She fights for what she believes in, and we all need a bit of Madeleine within us!

Gaia Moore, Fearless series by Francine Pascal

When I was at school, I loved this series. I would take book after book out of the town library, until the staff knew what books I was returning before I reached the counter! I was fascinated by Gaia, a girl who could not feel fear. A useful attribute when people are constantly out to kill her! Gaia doesn't care what any one thinks of her, and is oblivious to her own beauty. She may not have great social skills, but she does have a deep strength; and that really inspired me as a shy teenager.

Princess Elizabeth of York, The White Princess by Philippa Gregory

As an amateur historian I could not fail to include a historical figure in this list! I don't feel that Elizabeth gets enough credit from the history books, and this novel helps to correct that. Elizabeth was, after all, the mother of the Tudor dynasty; wife to Henry VII and mother to Henry VIII. She married the man who killed her uncle (rumoured to be her lover) in battle, what must that have been like? Did she really grow to love the man who was originally her greatest enemy? This book provides an interpretation of these events which would shape the woman who became a kind and loving queen.

Hermione Granger, Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

How could I not include Hermione? She influenced and inspired a generation of girls across the world. Intelligent, courageous and loyal, Hermione is the greatest female in Harry Potter. I did try looking for someone else from the HP books to include in this list, but to be honest, no one comes close. Hermione proves that brains and strength can take you a long way.
