A Matter That Should Be at the Highest Importance to Every American: My Hair.

So I cut my hair. And before you click away and scoff at me for dedicating an entire blog post to my hair, just hear me out.

My new haircut. I love it!

About once every other year, I cut my hair dramatically short because I get so tired of it. It gets so long, and it's so damaged because I'm too broke lazy to go to the salon once every few months like normal people. I usually save dramatic hair cutting for when something important is going on in my life like the start of summer getting a new job or something equally life-changing, but this time, I just kind of did it on a whim. I've been needing a cut for a million years now, and I stumbled upon this girl who had the most adorable swing bob, and she had a round face like me, and I thought, "Could I pull this off?" I was freaking out the whole drive to the salon, and my sister was cheering me on. The lady who did my hair could tell I was nervous, but she assured me that the style was going to look great on me.

I went to Destiny Day Spa, and my hairdresser was such a sweetheart. Usually when I walk into hair salons, they take one look at my hair and then eyeball each other to see which sucker is going to get stuck with my mane, but I didn't get that vibe here. Granted, there was only one person on duty, but she wasn't intimidated by the tangled mop on my head.

I've officially found my new favorite hair salon.

I wish I could tell you how many inches of hair I lost, but I have no idea. In some places 10, in other places more, but since it's a swing bob and cut into layers, it's pretty hard to tell. I can say that I feel like there's a huge weight off my shoulders. My hair was starting to weigh me down, and with the combination of all of hair she cut off and the thinning she did, my hair feels so awesome and healthy.

Nervous before the cut

With all the clips she had to use, I felt like I was in Zenon

One random funny thing that happened there: She was sweeping up my hair...

Can't believe all of that was on my head

and she tried to sweep it into this nifty vacuum thing, but it ended up getting stopped up because it was too much hair at once. Oops.

Before the styling. This is what I have to look forward to post-showering

I really love how my hair turned out. It feels great, and I think the cut makes me look a little older. Instead of being 16, maybe people will think I'm a college freshman. Little do they know I'll be a quarter of a century this year. Yikes.

The finished product

P.S. I made sure not to take a mirror selfie with my new haircut, because last time I did, someone took my picture off of Twitter and this happened:

What do y'all think?
