44 Signs You Grew Up in the 90's.

hairbrush songs.
I just love to sing. I sing every day, and then I get mad because I'm the most horrible singer ever. I don't know how people tolerate my voice while I'm jammin in the car or how my office-mate can concentrate when I'm singing along to Bruno Mars Pandora. But I sing anyway. Back in the day when my friends and I had Rock Band parties (cause we're cool), I always wanted to sing (and play drums cause drums are awesome). When my friends and I went on a cruise two summers ago, I sang "Baby Got Back" on karaoke because I know almost all of the words. Karaoking has been present at both of my graduation parties. I think it's my Filipino blood. There's just something about karaoke that all Filipinos love. My mom breaks out the karaoke machine when she's bored at home. Not kidding.
I remember watching the making of this music video on MTV (back when MTV meant Music Television, not trashy reality TV depicting all the reasons why other countries hate us). I've been an Xtina fan for as long as I can remember, so when this song pops up on my NSYNC Pandora, I pretty muh pretend I'm in the music video.
I think any girl roughly around my age was a Lizzie McGuire fan, this making every girl around my age obsessed with this song. Hilary Duff is one of the few Disney Channel stars who kept their lives together after leaving Disney. I've always loved HD. I remember I brought this CD on a vacation with friends, and I left it in the CD player in the hotel. I was devastated. Of course I went and bought another copy.
This is one of the first boy bashing songs I fell in love with. It's so catchy. It's hard not to jam out to this song. I always feel very sassy when I'm singing this into my hairbrush.
When I was in elementary school, I made up a coordinated dance to the chorus of this song. I don't remember all my slick moves now, but the ones I do remember are performed when this little gem comes up on my phone.
Okay, so I was a good girl growing up. Some would say I still am now. So of course I would love a song about a good girl wanting to be bad. I always felt rebellious listening to this song, even though there was nothing for me to actually rebel against.
Britney was my very first girl crush. I used to get pissed when people spelled her name wrong. I remember I was at my aunt's house listening to this CD, and my baby cousin got a hold of the little book that came with the CD and ripped it in half. I started crying. My love for Brit ran that deep. I always like to try to incorporate a chair in my hairbrush performance of this song, though I don't quite remember all of Britney's moves from the video.

I've always been one of those people that listens to music when doing anything, especially when I'm getting ready in the morning. Now I don't always brush my hair (curly hair probs), but my hairbrush is always within reach, so when "my song" (which is pretty much every song I love) comes on, I gotta grab the hairbrush and sing. Here are my favorite songs to sing into my hairbrush (or in the mic of a karaoke machine):
Come On Over - Christina Aguilera
I remember watching the making of this music video on MTV (back when MTV meant Music Television, not trashy reality TV depicting all the reasons why other countries hate us). I've been an Xtina fan for as long as I can remember, so when this song pops up on my NSYNC Pandora, I pretty muh pretend I'm in the music video.
What Dreams Are Made Of - Hilary Duff

No Scrubs - TLC

He Loves You Not - Dream
When I was in elementary school, I made up a coordinated dance to the chorus of this song. I don't remember all my slick moves now, but the ones I do remember are performed when this little gem comes up on my phone.
I Wanna Be Bad - Willa Ford
Okay, so I was a good girl growing up. Some would say I still am now. So of course I would love a song about a good girl wanting to be bad. I always felt rebellious listening to this song, even though there was nothing for me to actually rebel against.
Stronger - Britney Spears

I remember I was at my aunt's house listening to this CD, and my baby cousin got a hold of the little book that came with the CD and ripped it in half. I started crying. 10 favorite disney channel original movies.
Some of my favorite Disney Channel Original Movies:

Tru Confessions: Well, I already loved Shia, so I figured I would like this movies. One of two DCOM that have made me cry. Seriously, Shia was flawless in this. That library scene...sobbing. Why can't I buy this on DVD though? I watched it on YouTube, but I wish I could just buy it.
The Color of Friendship: Obviously a great message. Making races come together. Loved this.
Cadet Kelly: I knew this would be awesome because I loved (still love) me some Hilary Duff and Christy Carlson Romano. I love watching that end performance.
Get a Clue: I'm a sucker for Lindsay Lohan movies, and this was no exception. Add a little bit of Alfalfa, and it's perf. Plus I love a good teen mystery movie.
Gotta Kick It Up: I don't even remember what this movie is about, I just remember loving it. And that it had dancing in it, and I love all movies with dancing. Plus this is the only DCOM with Hispanics in it.
Zenon: I mean, who doesn't love this movie? Moving on.
The Other Me: My favorite scene is the cafeteria scene where everyone is dancing to *NSYNC. Seriously, monumental work, Disney Channel.
Smart House: I was waiting for there to be a contest for me to enter to win a house for my family. Little did I know at the time that you had to be at least 18 (sometimes 21) to enter any kind of contest like that. I just wanted to dance to giant B*Witched music videos in my bedroom. Too much?
Quints: The other DCOM that made me cry. I was seriously feeling her pain when she just wanted to give up on her art because her parents kept forgetting about her. Girl, I feel ya.
Stepsister from Planet Weird: Okay, this movie is a weird one, but I still really liked it, okay? Don't judge me.
These were just my top ten. It was seriously hard to narrow it down. Really, every DCOM from 1997 to 2002 is awesome, and there are a few other from later years that make the cut, like High School Musical (did that really come out SEVEN YEARS AGO!? I'm old).
What are some of your favorite DCOMs?

throwback thursday: TV edition {plus meet my friends}.
I love watching TV. I don't really like to watch TV while it's on the air, because a week is way too long for me to wait to see what happens. I prefer watching shows either when they're over or after the season is over so I don't have to stress about finding out what happens next. I've been trying to stay away from the reality TV. At one point, I was embarrassingly addicted, so I've been able to tone it down a notch.
My love for watching TV isn't a new thing. The best TV shows were playing in the 90's. The 90's had the best everything.

Clarissa Explains It All.

I was so jealous that her best friend came through her window whenever he wanted to. How cool, right? Clarissa was one of my faves. I wanted her life. I wanted her wardrobe. I mean, her last name was Darling! My hero.
Saved by the Bell.

This is what I thought high school was going to be like. I was going to have the most diverse group of friends with one person from clique. Kelly was my favorite (mostly because the real actress's name was the same as mine, except with an I.
Boy Meets World.

Classic. Like every girl my age, I wanted to be Topanga, and find the love my life in middle school. It didn't happen. I still watch this show. It's that amazing.
Full House.

I don't think I need to go into my Mary-Kate and Ashley obsession right now. I've already mentioned it in a blog or two. I loved everything about this show, including later finding out that Bob Saget was extremely inappropriate behind the scenes.
All That.

Pretty much SNL for kids. Also the reason I fell in love with Amanda Bynes. I still have faith that she's going to bounce back to her not crazy ways.
Legends of the Hidden Temple.

I can't even explain how much I wanted to be on this show. I was a Blue Barracuda all the way.
Roswell.

One of my favorites. This series has been on my Amazon wishlist for way too long. Before Katherine Heigl got super famous. Singing the theme song in my head right now.
Fresh Prince.

I mean, really? Who didn't love this show? I've been told that I look a little like Tatyana Ali.

the post with mary-kate and ashley.
When I think of my childhood {and adulthood for that matter}, I think of my two idols: Mary-Kate and Ashley! They were seriously the center of my life when I was younger. I collected their books, I watched all of their movies, parties, and mysteries {and of course Full House}, and I wanted to be a detective so I could solve mysteries like them. My sister and I would perform their party videos {particularly the Costume Party episode. We had that one memorized to a tee}. I mean, everyone loved MKA when they were younger, right? Oh. You didn't?
When I was in elementary school, my friend, Megan, and I had a MKA club. Meetings involved listening to their songs on tape and exchanging MKA books to discuss at MKA book meetings later. I wore their clothes, used their make-up, accessorized with their jewelry. I got mad at my parents because they wouldn't pay for me to join the real MKA fan club. They were all...
Devastation. And yeah, I'm 23 and I still have all of their parties and mysteries on VHS. And so what if I happen to pop them in the old VCR every once in awhile? What of it?
I also found a YouTube channel that let me watch every episode of Two of a Kind. I mean, it's the only one of their shows that you can't buy a DVD for, and it's so cute. I learned a lot of life lessons.
Anyway, I've had friends who judge me cause I still watch their movies {you're probably judging me too. That's cool}. But I don't caaaare, because they were such a big part of my life growing up. I just L.O.V.E. them. I'll probably love them till the day I die, not gonna lie.
Any fellow MKA lovers out there?
