you really love me?


Y'all, I really love my blog friends. They're way too sweet to me. It seriously makes my day when I wake up to emails from my new blog "pen"pals or to comments on blog posts. It makes me even more happy when someone likes me and my blog enough to nominate me for an award. Sarah from Sweet Happenings nominated me for a Sunshine Award, which I think is so sweet because there's nothing bad about sunshine, right? And my dear friend, Raewyn from Warrior Queen, nominated me for a Liebster Award. Now I know y'all probably think that's obnoxious because I've already posted about my first three {1,2&3} nominations, but I don't care, because I love it, and I love Raewyn. What's one city you visited that you DIDN'T like and why?
Honestly, I can't think of one. There's good and bad and all of the cities I've lived in.

What's your favourite clothing store?
Forever 21 no doubt. I never walk out of there empty handed, and they have the best sales!

If I gave you $500.00 right now, what would you go buy?
It would go straight into my trip for Europe. I wouldn't spend it on anything else.

What's the population of the city you currently live in?
I live in Shreveport, Louisiana now, and the population is 200,975. I just moved out of Bossier though and their population is 62,745.

What's your favourite scent?
The smell of fall and Christmas. I love cinnamon and spices and pumpkin pies and cookies. I just love it.

Would you prefer to live in the city or suburbs?
The city, most definitely. The only thing I don't like is the traffic, but I love having a bunch of people around and always having something to do. I really want to move into a bigger city when I get the opportunity.

Are you a morning person or night owl?
Night owl for sure. I'm not a happy camper in the morning.

What was your favourite childhood show that you can remember?
Oh my goodness, so many! I loved everything on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. Rugrats, The Jetsons, Rocko's Modern Life, everything Mary-Kate and Ashley (of course) and so many more.

Do you prefer swimming or skiing?
I've never tried skiing, but I really want to! And I'm an awful swimmer. I stay in the shallow end.

How long have you been blogging for? 
I wrote my first post in January, but I just started seriously blogging in June, and I love the experience so far!

I have an iPhone, but I'm definitely PC all the way. Old habits die hard.

If you had to get a tattoo, what would it be?
I have a tattoo! It's of a fairy sitting on a peace sign and it's multi-colored. I got it when I turned 18. I really want to get some more. A few smaller ones.

What type of car do you drive vs. your dream car?
I have a blue 2012 Toyota Corolla, and I love it! I don't actually have a dream car, other than the flying mobile they have in The Jetsons. That would be pretty rad {did I just say rad?}

Why did you start this particular blog (In case you've had other blogs)
This is actually my second blog, most people don't know that. I started one way back during sophomore year of college after I got on OSL. I didn't share it with anyone and I didn't venture out into the blog world. I pretty much just erased everything after and just shut it down. I started this blog just because I love to write, and I really wanted a way to practice more. I've gotten so much more out of this experience than I could have ever expected. 

What is the biggest thing you're looking forward to in 2013?
I've already had a good 2013. I'm really excited to meet Sarah Dessen and Rob Thomas at the Austin Teen Book Festival tomorrow. I'm excited to do some more event planning at my job. I think the last three months of the year are going to be pretty awesome.

How have you changed in the past year?
I've become a lot happier. I mean, the year has had its ups and downs, but after a few things fell into place, everything just seemed to start going right. I'm definitely a lot happier now than I was at this time last year.

Do you have any "tried and true" blogging methods?
Honestly, I'm still a newbie blogger, so I'm still taking advice from the bigger blogs out there.

Who is your blog role model?
I'd say Sarah from Venus Trapped in Mars, Kaitlyn from Wifessionals, and Jenni from Story of my Life. I love the look of all of their blogs, and I almost feel like I know them because of how they word everything in their blogs. I've gotten so many amazing blogging tips from all of them too.

What's your dream job?
Being an event planner! I'm so lucky that I have a job where I get to dip my feet in the industry. I really love everything about event planning. Even the stressful part usually leads to an amazing outcome.

fall television.


I love fall television. I've gone through phases of watching and not watching television. I've been obsessed with so many shows. I've written before that I usually like to wait until a show is cancelled or ends and then watch the entire series back-to-back. Sometimes, the shows are just too awesome, that you just have to wait an entire week to see the next episodes. I'm looking forward to so many shows this season. I'm extra excited because I actually have a regular work schedule, so I'll be able to watch them instead of catching up online later! Wahoo!

How I Met Your Mother

I spent a good chunk of the beginning of summer watching every single episode of HIMYM on Netflix. I fell in love with it. How can you not with all the hilarious quips, the bro code, and spontaneous dance/song break-outs? I was so excited when I got a glimpse of the mother. I'm sad that the show is ending, but I'm super excited to finally hear Ted's real love story. Just from watching the first two episodes, I can already tell that I'm going to love the mother. She's so cute and perfect for Ted.

Revenge

I'm obsessed with Revenge. The first season was amazing. The second was good, but there was just so much happening that it was hard to keep up with. That last episode got me though, particularly that last line. This show stresses me out for real. I'm definitely looking forward to this next season. Ah!

Grimm

I was so mad at the end of Grimm. They just left it hanging, and I've been waiting TOO LONG to figure out what happens to Nick. I've loved Grimm since the beginning, and I don't understand why more people don't talk about it. It's so awesome.

Glee

I'm a fan of the original cast. I liked the season 4 episodes that were mostly in New York with Rachel. The newer cast is fine, but they don't hold a candle to the original. Season 4 just wasn't as awesome as the rest of the seasons. I don't want to think about the day when they cut the original cast out completely. I watched the first season of Glee recently, and I laughed so much. The newer cast just isn't as funny. I mean, you can't beat Rachel Berry's quips.

I'm also curious to see what they do with the Finn situation. I mean, I've heard what they're going to do, but I would like to see it in action myself. Still sad over his death.

The Voice

Okay, so none of the Voice winners have been super successful thus far, but I still have high hopes. I actually really liked have Shakira and Usher as judges last season. They did a really good job as far as diversity and overall improvement of their team goes. I'm excited to have the original gang back together though. I didn't watch full episodes of the show last season. I just watched their performances on YouTube and then looked at Wikipedia to see who got kicked off. Looks like I'll be doing the same thing on Mondays since HIMYM and The Voice play at the same time. I did watch Tuesday's episode and half of Monday's episode though, and it looks like season 5 is going to be awesome. Plus there's a guy from Shreveport, my neck of the woods, on there. Holla!

Once Upon A Time

So the last season of Once Upon a Time really wasn't that great, and even though Jon has chosen to give up on the show, I'm determined to stick with it to see if it gets better. What can I say? I love fairy tales.

Carrie Diaries

Okay, seriously, I'm a child. I love Sex and the City, but I view that and Carrie Diaries as two totally separate entities. I really love AnnaSophia Robb. I think she's just precious. I'm really excited about the addition of Samantha to the show.

burn for burn {book review}




I read this book because its sequel is going to be talked about at the Austin Teen Book Festival that I'm going to TOMORROW. I wish I had enough time to read its sequel, Fire with Fire. I had heard of a few books by Jenny Han, but I hadn't read them. I hadn't heard of Siobhan Vivian before though. I'm sad that I'm not going to be able to read Fire with Fire before the panel tells me all the spoilers, but I'm sure I'll still enjoy it because I'll know all of the main characters and such.

Brief Summary
Burn for Burn tells the story of three girls from three different worlds with one thing in common, their thirst for revenge. Lillia is one of the popular girls. She's on the cheerleading squad and she's super rich. This past summer, something tragic and horrible happened to her, and she's determined not let anything like that happen to her little sister, Nadia. Her best friend, Rennie, was there when it all went down, but she didn't even try to help Lillia or even talk to her about it afterward.

Kat is a rebel who's fallen for Alex, a guy in Lillia's close group of friends. She also used to be best friends with Rennie. She's tired of Alex ignoring her and acting like nothing happened between them this past summer.

Mary used to live on Jar Island (the island where all of this takes place), but she moved away after Reeve, another close friend of Lillia's, hurts her in the worst way possible. She moved away after the events happened long ago, but now she's back to show Reeve who's boss.

These three girls become unlikely friends with one goal: revenge.

My Thoughts
I can't say enough how much I loved this book. At first, it was kind of slow, but it picked up pretty quickly. I also love and appreciate that the girls that are on the cover are reflective of the three main characters in the book. A lot of books don't do that nowadays.

Anyway, this book is told from three different perspectives, one of each of the girls. I felt so deeply connected to each of the characters because they all have something tragic that's happened to them in the past. They open up to each other and feed off of each other's vulnerability. Even though each one of them wanted to pull out at one point, they all stuck through it.

The story really heats up at the end when they're at homecoming. I literally couldn't put the book down. Then I got mad because it just ends, and you HAVE to get the second one. That's why I'm itching to see what happens. There's something strange happening with Mary. You don't know what's going to happen to Reeve. Are the girls going to end up being friends? I just have so many questions.


I'll give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. It was truly amazing, and I can't wait to get my hands on Fire with Fire. I'll probably end up buying it at the festival. Now I'm super pumped to meet both of the authors this weekend. Ah!

the moon and more {book review}.

The reasons I felt like I needed to read this book are 1) it was the only book I hadn't read by Sarah Dessen, so duh, I needed to read it, and 2) it's the book she'll be talking about at the Austin Teen Book Festival that I'm going to next weekend. I didn't want anything to be spoiled on the panel, so I decided to make sure I read it before I go to the festival.

Quick summary
The Moon and More follows the main character, Emaline, throughout her summer on the beach where she lives year-round. She just finished her senior year of high school and will be going to college about two hours away from her home in the fall. She lives in a place that people often visit during the summer, and she longs for the things that she doesn't get because she lives on the beach, such as summer romances and nights she can't remember (if ya know what I mean). She's been dating the same guy, Luke, for two years, but then he {spoiler alert} cheats on her. On the same day that they break up, she kisses another guy, Theo, who is only there for the summer. She thinks she can finally get her summer romance and see what all the fuss is about.

While all of this is happening in her love life, Emaline is struggling with her relationship with her estranged father. He's going through a {another spoiler alert} divorce, and he comes to the beach to fix up and sell the house that his recently dead aunt lives in and to also spend time with this son before he goes to live with his mother.

My thoughts
This book is very different from the books I've read by her in the past. To be honest, I thought most of the characters in this book were pretty annoying, Emaline included. She got into an Ivy League school, but she wasn't very smart when it came to her love life. I mean, Theo was totally wrong for her, and he got on her nerves, but she still stuck with him for an extended amount of time. He was literally the most selfish and pig-headed guy ever, and she just dated him almost all summer, even though I'm sure all the readers knew it wasn't going to turn out well.

Then with this whole relationship with her father thing, her father was the most insensitive and terrible parent I've ever heard of. He went back on all of his promises and then some. He offered no explanation and instead just cowered and wouldn't allow Emaline to talk to him about anything. He also refused to spend time with his son, even though that was the point of the trip. Then months he left for the summer, he emailed Emaline about school and acted like nothing was wrong. He wouldn't even try to be a good parent to either of his kids. I just couldn't handle.

While, like I said, most characters were annoying, there were a few that I really liked. Most of all, I liked Benji, Emaline's half brother. He's ten and so full of energy. He was just happy, and he was also really smart for his age. I liked Clyde. He was an older gentleman in the book who Theo and his boss were making a documentary on {you'll have to read the book to get more info on this. It's too extensive to explain here!}. I also liked Emaline's best friends, Morris and Daisy. The two of them were dating and they made the oddest couple, but they somehow just worked together.

I think the thing I liked most about this book was that she didn't end up with a guy in the end. I know that's odd, because, like I said before, I do love a good love story, but I just didn't think either of her options were viable. She seemed like she would be a much more powerful character if she ended up single in the end, which she did and I loved.

I'll give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I'm so looking forward to getting Sarah Dessen to sign all of my books. Maybe I'll even purchase this one and get her to sign it too. I'm leaving for Austin a week from today, and the festival is on the 28th. Eight days and counting. I'm giddy with happiness {because I'm nerd, but that's okay}.

Cheese.
Lord, I could eat cheese by itself for a meal.  Is that weird?  It's just so good.  

The Kardashians.
I could honestly be the sixth sister.  (Let's be real, I'm watching it now).  Yeah, they're a little over the top but I could fit right in.  I like makeup and talking loud and have tons of family drama.

That one time I pretended to be a Kardashian at a family party. 
Le Pens.  
You guys, Le Pens are amazing.  Seriously.  If you're a student or just like to write your to-do lists in pretty colors, then they are for you.  Colorful, felt tip amazingness.  My favorite is pink.



Cards Against Humanity.  Have you ever heard of that game?  It's basically Apples to Apples for adults.  Best played with a glass of wine in hand.  

And some things that don't need any explanation at all: red lipstick, Chipotle, and Moscato.

So, on Friday, I mentioned that I had some exciting news. Trust me, this is much more exciting for me than it will be for all of you, but I'm still excited to share. I'm moving out of my parents' house. Holla! My friend, Amanda's, roommate moved out, and she asked me to move in with her.

I jumped at the chance because I know we'll be good roommates (we've been friends for 9 years, y'all), and the rent is so cheap compared to all of the places I looked at getting on my own. Plus she has a cute puppy named Tosh.

I spent the whole weekend moving into my new place. Sister helped me on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, my friend, Justin, and his friend helped move my couches and desk and some boxes that I couldn't quite carry by myself. All I have left to move are my clothes, TV, VCR (yes, I still watch VHS's), and things that I have to use until I fully move in. Here's my progress:

Amanda didn't have any couches, but luckily I had two in storage from my first apartment. The entire living room is going to be rearranged, but for now, it looks like that.

My bathroom is the only thing that looks like it's coming together. I lined all of the cabinets with these cute black and white liners from Dollar Tree. The jars on the bottom are going to be filled with cotton balls, q-tips, make-up applicators, etc. I also want to make a magnetic make-up thing for the wall.

My room is just a mess. I have a long way to go. I have a lot of exciting ideas though! My plan is make it a travel theme. I want to get some old suitcases and art from famous cities around the world. I also need to get a bigger bookshelf, a world map, and a globe.

10 favorite disney channel original movies.


I didn't get Disney Channel until I moved back to the U.S. when I was eight. I lived my whole life watching Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, and I had no idea what I was missing! I watched Disney Channel up until the shows started getting dumb (I mean, I was getting older). I thought that Disney Channel movies weren't up to par with what they were when I was younger. I really hate that some Disney Channel Original Movies are gone forever because they aren't sold on DVD. Depressed. Luckily, some play on Disney (super late at night) or you can purchase on eBay.

Tru Confessions: Well, I already loved Shia, so I figured I would like this movies. One of two DCOM that have made me cry. Seriously, Shia was flawless in this. That library scene...sobbing. Why can't I buy this on DVD though? I watched it on YouTube, but I wish I could just buy it.

The Color of Friendship: Obviously a great message. Making races come together. Loved this.

Cadet Kelly: I knew this would be awesome because I loved (still love) me some Hilary Duff and Christy Carlson Romano. I love watching that end performance. 

Get a Clue: I'm a sucker for Lindsay Lohan movies, and this was no exception. Add a little bit of Alfalfa, and it's perf. Plus I love a good teen mystery movie.

Gotta Kick It Up: I don't even remember what this movie is about, I just remember loving it. And that it had dancing in it, and I love all movies with dancing. Plus this is the only DCOM with Hispanics in it. 

Zenon: I mean, who doesn't love this movie? Moving on.

The Other Me: My favorite scene is the cafeteria scene where everyone is dancing to *NSYNC. Seriously, monumental work, Disney Channel.

Smart House: I was waiting for there to be a contest for me to enter to win a house for my family. Little did I know at the time that you had to be at least 18 (sometimes 21) to enter any kind of contest like that. I just wanted to dance to giant B*Witched music videos in my bedroom. Too much?

Quints: The other DCOM that made me cry. I was seriously feeling her pain when she just wanted to give up on her art because her parents kept forgetting about her. Girl, I feel ya. 

Stepsister from Planet Weird: Okay, this movie is a weird one, but I still really liked it, okay? Don't judge me.

These were just my top ten. It was seriously hard to narrow it down. Really, every DCOM from 1997 to 2002 is awesome, and there are a few other from later years that make the cut, like High School Musical (did that really come out SEVEN YEARS AGO!? I'm old).

my first snail mail collective.


Sorry this is coming at y'all a little late, but I finally got my package for my first Snail Mail Collective, and I'm so excited to share it. Unfortunately, the package I sent to my partner is currently lost in the mail somewhere. Dang USPS.

Anyway, I was partnered with Kelsey from April Sprinkles. I loved getting to know her via email, and even though August has come and gone, we still chat, which I love. Like I've said a million times, my favorite part about blogging is connecting with people on a more personal level than commenting on each other's pages. When you can make a connection with a stranger and become friends, that's so special. I'm so glad that I got paired with Kelsey this month. She is aca-awesome!

As you can probably tell, I was pretty excited about that hedgehog necklace. I've never seen one before and don't even know where you would find one, but Kelsey did, because she's awesome. I love love LOVE it so much. Ahh!

ESFJ, baybay.


Participating in Blogtember today with Jenni from Story of My Life. I've taken this personality test many a times, and I always come up with the same results: ESFJ, and I'm proud to be one, y'all!


Most people would say I'm pretty extroverted. I'm pretty hyper (especially after a few marshmallows). I love meeting new people, but sometimes my introverted side shows at the initial meeting. After a few minutes of conversation (or a few glasses of wine), it'll be like we're old friends. According to Joe Butt (the person who wrote up all this info here with an unfortunate name), ESFJs show a large range of emotions in a short amount of time (see? The only reason I'm emotional is because it's embedded into my personality! Not my fault). ESFJs wear our hearts on our sleeves and don't hide our feelings. Yup. So true.

ESFJs love a good party! And celebrating birthdays and other traditions. That's so me! I love finding (or making) the perfect gift for someone (even though it stresses me out!). I like to think that I'm generous when my wallet allows me to be.

ESFJs like to be in charge. Sure do. We like to give to others, but also expect something in return (generous with a hidden agenda?). ESFJs also have a very contradictory personality. No wonder I argue with myself all the time! It's part of my personality apparently.

Social Work (I was a sociology major for a little while, and I wanted to be a social worker.)

Thankfully being indecisive is part of my personality type, because if it wasn't, I wouldn't really have an excuse. I change my mind way too much.
