Endless Bliss | Happy Lifestyle Blog: I WENT SKYDIVING!

I WENT SKYDIVING!

Yesterday, I was able to cross something off of my bucket list. I WENT SKYDIVING! My friend, Jimi, and I skydived with Skydive Louisiana, and holy crap. What an amazing experience. I didn't get nervous until I was about to jump out of the plane!

It was all fun and games until we started to spin! Like an idiot, I didn't eat anything besides part of an apple before I took the jump. I was too nervous to have a real meal, and all of that adrenaline mixed in with a stomach full of nothing just didn't work out for me.

Luckily, I had a blast during the free fall. That was definitely my favorite part. I felt like I was flying, which was just an absolutely incredible feeling. When the parachute opened, I screamed "OH MY GOSH!" and then the camera man just fell away. And I know it may seem impossible to look cute while you're falling at 120 mph, but I somehow managed to put my best face forward and look adorable in all of my pictures.

I was fine during the first few spins. We pulled on the strings together and we spun around three times. When we spun the other way four times, my head just wasn't having it. I got the worst headache of my life, it seemed. Thankfully, I was till able to enjoy the rest of the skydive because the instructor loosened the straps a little and he let me put my arms to the side so I could rest a bit.
At the end, I started coughing, and I thought I was going to throw up. Not kidding. I held it all in though, and I had an awesome landing!

Afterward, Jon was so sweet to me and made me a chicken salad sandwich before I passed out for several hours because my head was just aching so bad.

You can watch my skydive adventure below. Just prepare yourself for a lot of super cute facial expressions and bright pink shoes. And the answer is no, I don't know what I'm doing with my hands the whole time.

Have you ever been skydiving? Is it on your bucket list?

  1. Ahhh! I love that you posted about this and got so much great footage! Congrats on taking the plunge! (; This is on my 101 in 1001 list, even though I am TERRIFIED of heights. It made me nervous reading about you spinning and getting a horrible headache and almost throwing up, because that's definitely what I'm afraid of. Is it like riding a roller coaster at all? I have pretty bad motion sickness.

Anyway, looks like you had an awesome time! :D

  12. How FUN! I want to go sky diving so badly!

  13. OH MY GOODNESS! I'm absolutely terrified of the idea but no one says it feels like rollercoaster the way I imagine it would. Instead the same thing I hear is "it feels like flying". Maybe one day I'll be as courageous as you but yes girl you worked that free fall hahahaha

  20. It was worth the extra few dollars to get pictures and video of the whole experience, because I don't think I'll ever be doing it again! I'm so glad that I was able to do it though. I can't wait to hear about you and your boyfriend doing it! I think y'all are going to have a blast!

  21. Yea...I didn't think I got motion sickness, but I was wrong haha. I'm glad I did it, but I won't be doing it again, that's for sure!

  22. After I finally woke up from my post-skydiving nap, I told Jon "I'm taking bungee jumping off of my bucket list." I think I'm done with the whole suspension in the air thing haha. Massive headache aside, I had a blast doing this!

  23. That would be an amazing way to spend your 21st birthday! You should definitely do it!

  31. Yeaaa. I'm just glad I managed to hold it all in! I really struggled at the end! Haha. I'm glad I did it, but I can honestly say I'll never do it again.

  32. I couldn't resist sharing those unbelievably attractive pictures of me haha.

  33. I said it once, and I'll say it again. You are crazy ha. That poor guy would have had vomit fly back into his face or be peed on lol. One of my friends is a skydiving instructor or something and he's crazy too. Haha these pics are hilarious-ly...awesome!

  34. I love your pink shoes! It looks like a wonderful and fun experience! I had never actually heard someone discuss the whole process so hearing about the possible spinning and sickness made me a little hesitant but I think skydiving is still something I hopefully (maybe...if I can get enough courage...) would like to do!

    ReplyDelete
  35. You should definitely still do it! I would just recommend eating beforehand and letting the person you're with know that you don't want to spin around a lot (that's if you get motion sickness. If not, then I'm sure you'll do great). It was such an awesome experience, and I'm glad I got to do. I think I'll stick to 'one and done' for this though!

  36. Haha I was so scared about peeing in the sky that I went pee THREE TIMES before I got in the jumpsuit. I can't imagine doing this again. I'm glad I did it, but I think I'm good after just doing it once.

  37. OMG love your pink shoes!! This looks like so much fun!! Sucks about the headache, but glad you still managed to enjoy yourself!

  41. OMG this is so great! And I instantly started singing.. " I went skyyyydivvvin'... I went... Rocky Mountain climbin'...." out loud in my little office here. Whatever.

My boyfriend went skydiving years ago and I am too scared to watch his video, even! AH! It seems like such a rush... but I am too scared!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Omg! I love that you sang that out loud. Yes!

YOU SHOULD TOTALLY GO SKYDIVING! It was definitely a rush. Though if you get motion sickness, you may get a headache like I did, but it's totally worth it to cross something this epic off of your bucket list.

  43. Your so brave. I could never do this. Glad you had a great time. Sorry to hear you got a headache.

  45. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be!

  46. It really does feel like your flying! My favorite was the free falling. It was just an incredible feeling. At one point, he asked me if I liked rollercoasters, and I said "sometimes," and then he spun me around a few times both ways. My head definitely didn't like that part!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I was so sad that I got a headache, but I'm glad Jon was there to take care of me.

  48. I'm scared of heights too, but this ended up not scaring me at all. Once you're out of the plane, it's just such an incredible feeling. You should definitely do it. I ended up getting a horrible, horrible headache because we spun around just one too many times, but I did it on an empty stomach. I recommend eating a good meal beforehand (not something too heavy though), and let the person you're with know that you don't want to spin around. I wouldn't compare it to riding a rollercoaster. It's more like you're flying. It's a really great feeling!
