19 Ways to be Happy Right Now.

It's not easy to be all sunshine and daisies day in and day out. Sometimes it's easier to shove ourselves into our little shells and be a Debbie downer. How about instead of bringing everyone around you down, you try to dig your way out of your funk and just be happy?

GIVE
There's a reason people volunteer and give to charity. Okay, some may do it because they're required by law or for the tax write off, but some people really do do it out of the goodness of their hearts. There's just something about giving to a charity or volunteering for an organization and expecting nothing back in return.

FORGIVE
That grudge you've been holding onto for the past week - yea, let's just get over that. I'm the worst person at holding grudges because I often forget about why I was mad in the first place. Holding onto those grudges really doesn't help anything. Why not just release the burden and forgive the person and move on?

BE AROUND HAPPY PEOPLE
If you don't want to be a negative Nancy, then go hang around the positive Paulies. Being around people who are in a good mood will help put you into a good mood too.
Just a few people (and a few memories) that make me happy :)

LET GO OF NEGATIVE PEOPLE
The friends that you're always talking about behind their backs and the people who don't add anything but stress to your life - just get rid of them. What are they adding to your life? Nothing positive. Why waste your life around people who are only going to bring you down? Life is too short for that nonsense.

TAKE A BREAK
Maybe you're unhappy because you have too much on your plate. Take a break and step away from it all. Whether it's an hour away from the office or a week away from everyone and everything, just take a break. Your work will still be there when you get back, and you'll be able to focus more on completing it because you were able to give your brain a little break.

SPEND TIME IN THE SUN
Studies show that being in the sun boosts serotonin levels, which is the body's natural happy hormone. So just spend a little time outside and soak in all that happiness!
Soak in the last bit of summer while you still can! Spend as much time in the sun as possible.

LAUGH
We all have different senses humor, but we all love to laugh. I like watching funny YouTube videos or Vines or just spending time with people who understand my sense of humor and always tend to make me laugh. Whatever it takes to get you to laugh - being tickled, watching a comedy, reading cheesy jokes online - seek it out and work those abs!

EAT
Because eating always make people happy. #amiright?

BLAST YOUR FAVORITE SONG
Nothing changes my mood around faster than listening to my favorite song. Even though that song changes on the daily, music is always my go to when I'm upset, and I can't stand being in a foul mood anymore. Listening to 90's music always turns my frown upside down.

DRESS UP FOR NO REASON
I love getting fixed up and all pretty, but I usually don't have time to. When I do, I love taking my time and transforming myself into a dime piece. Even if you don't have plans to go out, you can always make up a reason to leave the house, even if it's just reading at the park, calling your friends up for a drink or just going to the grocery store. If you feel pretty then that will make you feel happy too!

BE EXCITED ABOUT THE FUTURE
So you're not too happy about the present. That sucks, but on the bright side, you can think about how awesome your future is going to be. Maybe you hate your job. Just think about the work you're putting in to work up to a job that you'll love. Maybe things are looking grim. They won't always look that way! Just look to the future and think about how awesome it's going to be, and hopefully that'll make you a little happier in the present.

PLAN SOMETHING
Sometimes, all you need is a distraction to get your mind off of the reason that you're not so happy right now. Why not plan something like a vacation or a dinner party? Get your mind off of the unhappiness and start getting excited about your plans!

BE CREATIVE
Get lost in something. Whatever your creative outlet is - writing, painting, building, drawing, cooking - let your mind wander into something you love.

READ
If you're not too happy about your world right now, get lost in a different world. Read a book and focus on the problems of a fictional character instead of your own problems.

BE THANKFUL
You think you have problems? Trust me, there's always someone who has it worse. And while it may be easier to focus on your own problems, you should be thankful for the problems that you don't have. You should grateful that you have the things that you have. The fact that you have the means to read this post using internet on a computer or on a phone is a blessing. The fact that you have the ability to read at all is something you should be thankful for.

DANCE
Just like music, dancing puts me in the best of moods. No, I'm not a good dancer. No, I was never professionally trained, but I just love to dance. It makes me happy. Simple as that.

DO SOMETHING NICE WITHOUT EXPECTING ANYTHING BACK
When I was in middle school, I read a book called Star Girl. My best friend and I were inspired to go around doing random things for people like putting notes in people's mailboxes (illegal) that said happy thoughts. We called ourselves the "Jelly Beans." I really don't remember why. But anyway, we just liked to spread happiness because it made us happy. You can do the same. Pay it forward. Leave a $5 bill in between cereal boxes at the grocery store, put a note of inspiration in a book that you return to the library, pay for someone's coffee in the Starbucks line. There's just something about doing something nice for someone that you've never met or will never see again.

TAKE A BATH
Nothing clears my brain faster than just doing nothing. I love just lying back in the bathtub and clearing my thoughts. Sometimes I'll read a book or watch a TV show on my laptop, but for the most part, I just enjoy listening to some acoustic tracks, lighting some candles, closing my eyes, and soaking in the bubbles.

HUG
Hugs are the cure-all for everything.

What things do you do to get into a better mood?

  30. Dressing up used to be my number one bad day preventer. I am not very into fashion, so if I found a really good outfit I knew I looked great in, and wore it, nothing could bring me down!!
