Motivated Mondays: Flaws Are Okay.
In case I didn't already love Lorde enough, she tweeted this photo of herself recently:
It quickly went viral, and for good reason! Not many people who are in the spotlight are willing to outright point their flaws out to you, especially when they have a team of make-up artists and photoshoppers who can erase their flaws in an instant.
What's interesting about perception is that it's unique to everyone. Flaws that I notice about myself are things that people wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't pointed it out to them. On the other hand, some of the things that we see as flaws in ourselves are the things that other people love about you.
For example, my hair.
While some days I love my hair, the majority of the time, I'm just tired of it. I get compliments on my hair all the time, but all I really want to do is cut it all off. Not bald, obvs. Just shorter. It's so much to deal with and I hate all of my little flyaways. When I fix my hair and it doesn't do what I want it to, I think it looks awful, but others will compliment me on it and think it looks great.
I think we can all learn a lesson from Lorde in saying that flaws really are okay. We weren't meant to be perfect; we were meant to be human. Embrace the things that you don't like about yourself and realize that those are the things that make you unique. They're the things that make you you!
Happy Monday!

Such a great post. We all need to learn to let our flaws go.
ReplyDeleteLove this. Such a a great reminder! I'm loving this series lady :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome that she shared those photos of her online showing what her skin really looks like versus the photoshopped version. No one's perfect!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post! I really like Lorde already but now I like her even more! It's ridiculous how much they edit celebrities!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great reminder! Perfect is overrated anyway :)
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing that tweet passed around. Especially since one my flaws right now is this unruly acne and even a great entertainer that people love is willing to go out there with her flaws makes me rethink how I feel sometimes!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
ReplyDeleteLoved this post! I always loved having long hair... but it was getting annoying, mostly to dry it all the timeeee.... and I cut it, and I love it! :D

I don't get know much about her and her music but she gets brownie points for being real. I acknowledge my flaws (I really, really, really, hate this one mole I have on the back of my thigh and have been contemplating getting it removed for about a year or so), and get bitter over them but eventually I learn to accept them as what they are and as cliche as it sounds, makes me who I am.
ReplyDeletePS: Awesome picture, haha!
I love love love your blog!! :) I'm glad I found it:)

My hair is starting to get dry, but only in certain parts! It's so weird. I'm really thinking about cutting for summer.
ReplyDeleteSame here! I think it really says a lot about her that she's willing to put herself out there like that. So awesome.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about her life, but I love her album. Her voice is pretty unique. And thank you! My hair just would not stop blowing in my face that day!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! You're so sweet! I really love your blog too!
ReplyDeleteLOL love that pic of you!!
ReplyDeleteExactly! Completely agree! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I definitely agree!
ReplyDeleteThank you! That's so sweet!
ReplyDeleteExactly! Plus she's so young, and it's amazing how she would do that. I know when I was her age, I was so self-conscious about my acne. I would not be flaunting it to the world if my face was photoshopped everywhere.
ReplyDeleteMe too! It made me so happy and made me love Lorde even more. I get self-conscious about my acne all the time, and I think it's so brave of her to just put herself out there like that when she doesn't have to.
ReplyDeleteIt really is ridiculous! They look so different. I love celebrities that are willing to put themselves out there like this, like Jennifer Lawrence.
ReplyDeletethis is awesome!! could not agree with this more :)
ReplyDeleteI really loved that tweet because that part of me - the acne scarring - is something I definitely try to hide in "proper" pictures.
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks! Was a very windy day.
