The Maze Runner {Book Review}.

I've known about The Maze Runner for several years, but I had no idea that it was a series. What pushed me to want to read the book was the preview I saw of the movie when I went to see Divergent. Knowing that a book is going to be turned into a movie pushes me to want to read the book ASAP, and the movie trailer looked so interesting, I wanted to dive into the book right away.

All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift. Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. My Thoughts I was immediately intrigued by the concept of this book. A boy sent to a strange place with no knowledge of his past life other than his name. He doesn't even know his family or his shoe size. It was all so confusing, and the more confused I am, the quicker I have to read so I can figure out what happens and ease my confusion.
No one has any idea how or why they were sent to the Glade or who sent them, but they created a goal for themselves to solve the maze. For two years, these boys have been trying and failing to find a way out via the changing paths of the maze. When Thomas arrives, strange things start to happen. Unexplainable things that the boys have never seen or thought could happen. 
Usually it takes me a little while to start getting annoyed with characters, but I was annoyed with everyone at the beginning of the book. I was frustrated with Thomas because he wouldn't just sit down, shut up and follow protocol. Everyone was telling him to just rest and get some sleep and things would be explained to him the next day, but he insisted on asking a million questions immediately instead of just being patient. (Though if I'm being honest, I probably would have done the same thing, but just reading it about it made me want to tear my hair out.) Alby was just bossy and big-headed throughout the book. I don't think there was ever a part where I just started to like him. Most of the boys in the Glade just really got on my nerves, other than little, innocent Chuck. I adored him throughout the entire book.
I can't say this book every stressed me out like other books. I didn't sympathize with any of the characters because they all seemed like big boys who could take care of themselves. I did, however, breeze through this book because I just had to know what happened and how/if they solved the mystery and clear my confusion. 

I give this book a 4 out of 5. It was full of suspense and surprises, unexpected twists and turns. I would love to know what was going on through the author's head when he was writing this. This book is a series, but I'm not sure the epilogue was enough to make me want to read the book ASAP. I will definitely be reading it in the future though, and I can't wait to see the movie!
