Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors of all time. She just amazes me because she put out a book pretty much once a year, and all of the ones I've read so far have been amazing. I don't understand how she can put a novel together so quickly and have them all be so good. Not to mention, all of the topics she writes about are so diverse. She really is one of my idols.
When I heard she was writing a young adult novel, I knew I had to get my hands on it. Honestly, I'm in the awkward transition stage from teen novels to adult novels, so I like to dip my feet into both. So an adult author writing a book for young adults?! PERFECT!
Anyways, just to keep this simple, it was way beyond my expectations. I didn't even know what the book was about before I read it. The concept just amazes me. Without giving away too many details, it's about a typical high school girl named Delilah who isn't part of the popular crowd and a not so typical boy named Oliver who is a character in a book that Delilah is reading. They are both itching to escape their worlds, particularly Oliver. They somehow find a way to communicate with each other, and Delilah and Oliver make it their mission to help Oliver escape from the book so they can be together.
I mean, who comes up with that?! Amazing, right?! Her daughter and co-author, Samantha van Leer, is the one who came up with the concept. Isn't that so impressive? She a junior in high school. When I was a junior in high school, I was a reporter on my school newspaper with bad hair and braces, not publishing best selling books. My life.
I give this book a 4 out of 5. All of my fellow bookworms should definitely go check this out!
Are there any other Jodi Picoult fans out there? What other books do you think I should read? I love getting recommendations!
Love jodi Picoult! Where I work we hold a book festival every year and she came last year :) I was in like the 5th row of her packed author speaking event. She was awesome! I could have listened for hours. I haven't read Between the Lines yet but definitely need to. She said it was really fun to write with her daughter
