10 Road Trip Essentials.

Anytime I go on vacation, I have to make a list of all the things I need to pack. Usually this list is really extensive, and you would think that I would save these lists, but no. I like making new lists because it just makes me more excited about my trip.

Since I'm embarking on my annual Gulf Shores vaca (and by annual, I mean that we went last year, and we're going again this year) with TASK, aka my girlfriends, aka Tiffany-Amanda-Sarah-Katherine, tomorrow, I, of course, had to prepare by making a packing list. And while having everything I need for the actual trip is important, so is being prepared for the 7-8 hour drive to the beach.

Here are some of my road trip essentials that I could not survive the drive without:

1. Face wipes: I have naturally oily skin, and after I wake up, my skin is pretty gross. I definitely plan on taking a little cat nap on the road, and I'll need one of these to freshen up afterward.

2. A notebook and pen: As a blogger and a wannabe author, I never know when inspiration will strike. I always keep a notebook with me, and while I'm on vacation, I like to write little things down so I'll remember them later. Even though I also keep notes in my phone, sometimes I like to revert to my old school ways.

3. Water: For obvious reasons. Gotta keep hydrated!

4. Mints: I pop mints like candy, and when I'm on the road, post-nap, it's always nice to have something to freshen up the breathe.

5. Sunglasses: Obviously, when going on a summer vaca, you have to have some sunglasses.

6. A good book: Some people get carsick when they try to read on the road, but usually, I'm unaffected. I love reading (obviously), and travel time is the perfect time to catch up on novels I've been wanting to read.

7. Hand sanitizer: I hate public bathrooms, and soap dispensers are the most disgusting things to touch. I mean, everyone touches them after doing their business. Gross. I like to keep some hand sani with me on the road so I don't have to deal with all those germs.

8. 90's music: Nineties music is my favorite music already, but I especially love it on the road. Road trips are the perfect time to listen to all of the throwbacks. P.S. Don't judge my old school nano. It has all of my old music on it.

9. Snacks: At work, I'm always eating. Why stop the habit on the road?

10. BFF's: The most essential part of a road trip is the people you're traveling with! What's a vacation without your besties?

Are you going on vacation this summer? What are some of your road trip essentials?

  1. I always read on the road while listening to music (except, of course, if I'm driving)! It's really smart to make lists so you don't forget your toothbrush or something equally important. Have a fun weekend!

  2. My Nano is even older than yours! I'm jealous that you can read in the car. We're going on a 14 hr road trip to the middle of nowhere Texas next week, and I can't do anything but stare out the window and sleep. Needless to say I'll be popping some benedryl like candy and take a little 14 hr snoozapalooza.

  3. When I go on long trip by myself, I like to listen to audio books, so it's kind of like reading when I'm on the road! I also like blasting loud music though. I made my packing list for the beach a couple days ago and started packing last night. I'm getting too excited!

  4. I'm glad we both have old school nanos. Do you have the one with the smaller screen? My brother just bought me one of the newest nanos for my trip to Europe so I can put audio books on it without having to delete all of my music from my old iPod haha. 14 hours!? I haven't done a trip that long in awhile. I would get so tired of being in the car. 7 hours is bad enough! Sleeping is definitely the best option.

  8. A road trip with the girls...so fun! I second this list. I did my own after road tripping with the boyf, with all sorts of beauty things to keep beauteous while driving, since that's totally necessary...right?! HA. Have an amazing time!!!

  10. Ah, a woman after my own heart! I have HORRIBLY oily skin. And I am constantly wiping it away. I need to keep wipes with me more often but I hate having to reapply makeup throughout the day. I have really pale skin and no color in my lips so I always have at least blush and lipstick on. I ALWAYS have a notebook and pen with me. If I don't, I feel naked. I would love to publish a novel one day, so I never leave without the appropriate tools. [Though, if I'm desperate, I'll write a note in my phone.]

I'm actually leaving in less than 45 minutes for my own trip! Mississippi Man and I are meeting some friends in Corolla, NC for the weekend and I can't wait. I have all the necessary things packed. And my bag looks a lot like yours.

Have fun on your adventure! Wish me luck on mine! :)

  11. I finished it last night. I thought it was really good, but I didn't like it as much as the Burn for Burn series she did with Siobhan Vivian. I haven't read the The Summer I Turned Pretty series, but it's on my to-read list!

  12. Another person in the world who refers to her boyfriend as "boyf!" Yes! Beauty things are totally necessary!

  13. For sure! Road trips by myself are so lonely! I would definitely not be able to survive a road trip without music, snacks or a book!

  14. I have to reapply makeup too! I really hate how oily my skin is. I use this powder that's supposed to help it, and it's better than it used to be, but it still gets oily throughout the day. I'm so happy that someone understands the necessity of having a notebook and pen at all times. I usually remember things better if I write it down as opposed to putting it in my phone. Yay for going on your trip! I'm from Charleston, SC, but have never been to NC. I've always wanted to visit though. Have fun on your trip!!

  15. My eyes immediately went to the Fruit Loops and chocolate. Those would definitely be in my bag. LOL.

  16. These are awesome essentials to pick! I'm going to my first blog/business conference this summer and these essentials are definitely things I could use with me on my trip there! :)

  17. I've always wanted to visit Charleston! I had a friend go to college down there. I've been summering in the Outer Banks all my life, so it's like a second home to me. But I'll have to find a new beach to summer at once we move down to Mississippi. :/
