Lately, I've been missing camp so much. I never went to camp as a child, but last year, I worked as a counselor at a camp called Lake Bryn Mawr in Pennsylvania. When I originally signed up, I thought it was the perfect job for me. I didn't have a car (a girl ran a stop light and hit me and totaled my car with her Denali) so I thought it made sense for me to work somewhere where I didn't need one. My train of thought was - free room and board, free meals every day, traveling (I was just two hours from NYC and an hour or so from Philly), and making new friends that lived in other places that I could go visit in the future.

I was so awkward at first. I don't know why I put myself in such weird social situations. It ended up being an amazing experience though. I was put in bunk 2, which is the second oldest group of girls at camp (did I mention it was an all girls camp?). They were teenagers going into their freshman year of college. I got grouped with a bunch of amazing girls. They were so sweet, and I wish I could have gone back again this summer to be their counselor. I also had some amazing co-counselors. We bonded so much, and I miss them like crazy. I can't wait for a reunion. Thank goodness for social media, because we're always tweeting, facebooking, snapchatting, etc. each other. There's also been a little snail mail action. And I can appreciate camp funnies like this one.

Anyway, one of my favorite camp experiences actually didn't happen on camp. The bunk one and bunk two girls get to take two trips each summer to places off of camp property. I got to accompany the bunk two girls on one last year to Lake Placid. Can I just say that IT WAS A BLAST!! I had so much fun. I got to go ice-skating, do wheel luge, play street hockey, go on a gondola ride up the Whiteface Mountains and tour the Olympic training center. We went to a Wet and Wild Wednesday ski jump show at the Olympic jumping complex. It was so neat! We also met Shane Hook, who was training for the winter Olympics in doubles luge and ate lunch {in the same room} with Steve Holcomb, an Olympian and gold medalist for bobsled. It was so awesome. There aren't enough words. I guess I'll let the pictures do the talking from here.
