Endless Bliss | Happy Lifestyle Blog: reading wishlist.

reading wishlist.

It seems like these days I have little to no time to read. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I have a new computer that actually has sound, meaning that Netflix has been reintroduced into my life.

The Thankful Project is about writing about "a talent you have" today. I wouldn't say reading is a talent, but I'm very grateful that I have the ability to do it. I love reading more than I could ever put into words, and I wish I had more time for it.

I have so many books on my shelf that I haven't read yet and a few that aren't on my bookshelf that I'm dying to read. Here are a few of the books on my reading wishlist in no particular order:

I am a huge fan of Jodi Picoult, and every time I tell people that, they always say to read this particular book. I'm particularly intrigued by it because the main characters are high school students and the main issue of the book is about a school shooting. It sounds really intense, and I think I would enjoy it. Luckily, I have this book and hopefully will be diving into it soon.

Tina Fey has always been hilarious to me, so I think I would love to hear some of hear some of her life stories.

Everyone has been raving about Gillian Flynn, and I would just love to read all of her novels, especially Dark Places because the movie adaptation for it was filmed right here in Shreveport!

I heard her speak about this book at the Austin Teen Book Festival, and the way she described it just made me think that I would really enjoy it. It sounds like a typical YA romance novel with a few twists and turns. My sister bought it at ATBF and started reading it. She said that so far she's enjoying it, so I shall be borrowing it soon.

I am truly fascinated by the brilliance of Marissa Meyer. I also heard her speak about these novels, particularly Scarlet, at ATBF, and I really really REALLY want to read all of them. There is also a fourth one called Winter that's supposed to come out a long time from now. (Not really sure when, obvs.) And Cress will be out this coming February.

One of my camp friends recommended this book to me, and I have yet to get my hands on it! It really sounds like a book I would enjoy.

I actually just recently heard of this novel. It was described to me as a Hunger Games-esque novel that takes place at a circus. I was sold.

I bought this book for $1 at a thrift store, and it's just been sitting on my shelf begging to be read. I need to dive into it soon.

I watched the first season on Netflix. And once you get all of that awkward prison action at the beginning, it really starts to get interesting. About halfway through the series, I didn't want to stop watching, and that last episode - yikes! I really want to read the book to get the non-dramatized version of Piper's prison experience.

What books are on your reading wishlist? Do you have any recommendations for me? Have you read any of these books?

  4. ooo, I've read quite a few of these, but I'm always looking for new book ideas, and this list looks wonderful. The Night Circus is one of my favorite books I've read recently. Gone Girl was one of my least favorite.

  5. You HAVE to read Marissa Meyer's book! Cinder and Scarlet were so amazing, I just can't wait for Cress to come out! I also loved The Night Circus but . . it's nothing like the Hunger Games, so I don't really understand the comparison? It's amazing nonetheless!

  6. I haven't read any of the books you mentioned! If I had any recommendations, I would say The Great Gatsby is a must read. Most people are forced to read it in high school, but I think it's a great book to read for pleasure as well. I need to read Adulting: How To Become A Grown-Up In 468 Easy(ish) Steps. It's been sitting on my bookshelf for much too long.

  7. I actually never read The Great Gatsby because I wasn't required to read it in school, but ever since I watched the movie, I've been wanting to watch it. Since I wrote this, I've only read a few books on here - Dark Places by Gillian Flynn, all of the books by Marissa Meyer, and Orange is the New Black. I need to read all of the others!
