Endless Bliss | Happy Lifestyle Blog: weekend update.

weekend update.

I really feel like I failed as a blogger because I didn't take many pictures this weekend, and the ones I did take were taken with my iPhone and show how much I don't care about my hair whenever I'm with Jon, so apologies in advance. My weekend was full of fun though, and it was the longest amount of time that Jon and I have spent together in so long, so we just tried to soak it all in.

Thursday
My weekend actually started on Thursday when I drove an hour to see Jon after work. I took Friday off so I could go to the midnight premiere of Catching Fire with him. I know I'm a child, but whatever. I am an avid believer in midnight premieres. With the book fresh on my mind with the recent re-read, I was excited to see what details they kept and which ones they nixed. Luckily, it wasn't cold outside during our wait to get in.

It was literally the best movie adaptation I've seen since Harry Potter (sorry, Harry Potter will always win in my heart, but Hunger Games is a close second). I cried at least five times. I know. Pathetic. That movie seriously messed with my emotions though. I mean, Gale getting whipped. Cinna getting beaten up. Heart-wrenching stuff, even though I knew it was coming. I am pretty depressed to have to wait for the entire trilogy to end in 2015. That's just way too long, and I'll be even older than and people will judge me, but I don't care.

Friday
After getting too much sleep, we went to run some errands. We started at Rolling Hills, my absolute favorite thrift store because of their book section. I always buy at least one book when I go there, and this trip I bought 10 for just $7.50! I know. Ridiculous. Maybe I'll do a post about my finds. I'm pretty excited to dive into those when I finish the books that I'm currently in the middle of. We also went to Wal-Mart and watched a lot of Netflix.

Saturday
We did a Thanksgiving-ish lunch. We made corn, stuffing, potatoes, and pasta and bought some rotisserie chicken. Our Thanksgiving last year was really awesome, but we didn't plan that well this year, so we just did a last minute meal, and it was delicious.

We made Caramel Pumpkin Delight straight from the box. Pillsbury style. Chefs in training? Probably not.

We also put up the Christmas tree. It's a pre-lit tree and one section of the lights isn't working, but oh well. It still looks pretty. We listened to Glee Christmas Pandora, which Jon wasn't excited about, but oh well.

Around 5-ish, we drove to campus for the Tech football game, we played Tulsa. Tech had a pretty lousy season this year, but so did Tulsa. They were 2-8 and we were 4-6. I thought we had a fighting chance, but we lost. Boo.

All Teched out and representing Terry Bradshaw
It was freezing cold, and I couldn't make it through the whole game, even though it was my first time paying for a ticket since I'm not a student and all.

Two jackets and hot cocoa did little to keep me warm
We left after Tech scored their first touchdown. I had fun singing all the songs even though the stands were nearly empty and the game wasn't very exciting. After the game, Jon made us some burgers, and we watched Captain America, which I loved. So good. I always thought that I hated superhero movies, but I was wrong. Every one that I watch, I love.

Sunday
Yesterday was filled with more Netflix and a mini tour of the campus. I visited my graduate brick, and saw it for the first time in person.

Sorry about my hair. Yikes!
I also saw the grass that is now in the place of the old business building where I earned my degree and visited the new business building, which is super pretty from the outside. The inside is a mystery because it's locked over fall break.

We also stopped by the greenhouse, and I saw all of the poinsettias. Jon has gotten me one every year of our relationship, so now it's somewhat of a tradition. This was the first year that I got to pick mine out though.

I decided to get a small poinsettia rose. Isn't it cute? What did you do this weekend?

  4. Cute pictures!! I always miss out on midnight premieres because I have no one to go with DX I still haven't seen Catching Fire and I haven't caught up on Doctor Who so I missed the 50th special this weekend. Sigh. Also, that's so cool! I want my own brick when I graduate! I don't think my school does that though?? Unless you donate a lot of money. haha

  7. Jon is the only one that will go to midnight premieres with me now! Well him and my sister. All of my other friends think it's lame haha. You must see Catching Fire! It's brilliant. I was so excited to get my grad brick! They had stopped at 2000 and just this year, they installed the 2001-2012 bricks, so I'm lucky I only had to wait a year. Luckily, they don't make us pay for it unless we want an actual brick for ourselves.
