Endless Bliss | Happy Lifestyle Blog: There's No Place Like Rome.

There's No Place Like Rome.

Out of all the cities I visited on my trip with EF College Break, Rome was my absolute favorite! I just felt happy there all time. The food was always good. The people were always friendly. I could have stayed in Rome for so much longer. I never wanted to leave!

The big things we did were visiting the Colosseum and the Vatican. I'll be blogging about those adventures next week. Trust me when I say there was never a dull moment in Rome.

The first thing we did after we got off the bus at our hotel (this was after the hour-ish long plane ride) was get pizza with our roommates. It was just a walk down the road, which is really convenient. It was midnight, and we were starving. Our margherita pizza was divine!

Our hotel key. Oh you fancy, huh?
One night during our trip, we went to an opera meal. It was a really cool experience. It wasn't an opera show, but it was people singing opera songs all around us while we ate. It was hilarious and so fun. The food was just okay though, sadly. After the opera meal, we bumped into the Summer Coca-Cola Festival. It was packed and so cool! We didn't understand anything they were saying or singing, but I mean, how many people can say they went to something like that in Rome?!

A few places we visited in Rome were the Pantheon, the Trevi fountain (though it was under construction, so we didn't even get to throw a coin in! Boo!), and the Spanish Steps.

We threw coins in the fountain in front of the Pantheon since the Trevi Fountain failed us.

The Trevi Fountain. Sigh.

Standing on the Spanish Steps, which were made by the French in Italy.

Wandering the streets of Rome. Everything was beautiful.
Pizza everyday.

Trastevere

Dinner on the street

Literally the best pasta I've ever eaten. I accidentally ate some before taking a picture.
I don't know what the restaurant was called where we had our farewell dinner, but it was really cute. The servers were really nice, and the food was delicious. Adam, our tour director, said a mini speech and gave out some Billy Bob Awards. It was definitely a laugh.

Bruschetta. I don't even like tomatoes, but I ate all of this.

This pasta was so good. It had a hint of orange flavor.

My first time eating veal.

More tiramisu.

I don't know what this was called, but it was so good! It was from a place called Forno Pane & Dolci, a little bakery we stopped by on the way to the farewell dinner.

This little cannoli was full of cherries and disappointment. I've definitely had better. It was also from Forno Pane & Dolci.
The last day was probably my favorite day of the whole trip. We traveled about 30-45 minutes to go to the beach in Santa Marinella. It was so beautiful.

We had lunch at Molo 21, and there were only a few other people there, so it was like our own little oasis. We could step from the restaurant out into the sea. I decided that my happy place is definitely by the Mediterranean Sea. I just felt relaxed and blissful. It was the perfect last day.

Easily the best thing I ate my whole trip. These mussels from Molo 21 were so good! I wanted more.

If I ever go back to Europe (which I really hope I do!), I definitely want to take a detour back to Roma! I loved everything about that city.

I miss Italy so much, and your post highlighted all the reasons why! The architecture, history, and of course the food are calling my name.

  8. When I visited the Trevi Fountain there must have been hundreds of people all trying to take a photo at the same time. I spent so much time in Italy, but if you do go back I definitely recommend Florence!

  25. I am so jealous! I have really been wanting to go on a guided trip like yours but haven't had the chance! I know for a fact that I am going to save up to go on something like this next year!

  26. You should! It was so so worth it! After traveling with EF, I couldn't imagine having done it any other way. They take care of all of the little things that you don't want to have to worry about, like your flight and hotel rooms, and the tour director usually has experience in the cities, so he can tell you all the fun places to go and good places to eat. Good luck saving up!

  27. such a great city! I think i took about a million pictures when I was there, there's something about Rome that brings out everyone's most photogenic faces! I also ate a pizza every day, I was pretty sure there was no pizza or wine left in the city by the time I left! Next time you go, be sure to have lunch at Babette (http://www.babetteristorante.it/)! Out on the back patio, it's amazing!

  30. I'm also in LOVE with your lion king tank!

  31. I completely agree! I want to go back now that I have a better camera. I loved drinking wine in Italy. It just felt right. Even the ones I didn't like, I still drank because drinking wine in Rome is so much better than drinking wine in America haha. I'll definitely have to check out Babette next time I go! It looks so pretty and quaint.

  32. I loved that hotel keychain! It's so much better than the little plastic key cards we get nowadays. I want to go back to Rome so much! I would love to just explore all of Italy. I loved it so much.
